day 3 of a 24/7 zen-like state of mind vegan diet


am on day 3 of a 24/7 induced zen-like state of mind vegan diet variation. my 12 year old niece handed me seven of these bands she created. hope to replace the expedient plastic bands with colorful hemp fibers. hope to earn a third today. the first day of a diet is always the hardest. having performed this diet twenty years ago with only lentil sprouts and water for thirty days, i knew at at the very least a 24/7 induced zen-like of mind begins on the third day. the bands are a helpful visual feel good reminder to keep to the diet. a Google Music subscription is playing a yoga meditation radio station. the absence of ads is peaceful. i’m feeling peaceful. it gets better as the days progress.

i’ll loose any sense of humor. a zen-like state places my mind to absorb news of tragic events without the twists and turns to humor. the later being like heat energy and the concomitant opportunity costs. in a zen-like state of mind, the minds eye becomes keenly aware of life forces and the law of attraction being a natural given, attention of the minds eye can translate to light energy.

this diet is an experiment to accentuate the effects of nootropics i’ve haphazardly discovered to date with a zen-like state of mind lentil diet experiment i lived twenty years ago.

below is a quick synopsis of the diet intended for days Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. the rest days are essential to keep homeostasis. for a busy schedule, you can alternate between nootropic and rest days regardless of the day of week.

by shear coincidence yesterday my son wanted to visit a Goodwill where i chanced upon a solid tripod. i’ll be experimenting with a producing a one week experiment video journal for the below daily minimalist diet regiment.

1. nootropics, upon waking

upon waking i’ll be taking the nootropics described in the previous post entry for Modafinil, Alpha Brain, Guarana, and Yerba Matte.

2. exercise, while absorbing nootropics

i will do a morning run and swim for aerobic exercise and preferably find a group to exercise with on a daily basis – this for an increase of hippocampus stem cells and a 30% increase if it is social.

3. a lemon, cayenne pepper, apple cider vinegar, and cinnamon  drink, before lunch

a “master cleanse” of lemon and cayenne pepper to open capillaries and help regulate blood sugar was created by Stanley Burroughs in 1940s. Dr Josh Axe has added two ingredients in the list, 1) lemon helps to balance blood sugar and has an alkaline effect on your body to help regulate PH plus stimulate the secretion of gastric juice, 2) cayenne pepper has been shown to drop blood pressure and increase metabolism, 3) Apple Cider Vinegar is full of enzymes and good bacteria, 4) Cinnamon is one of the best antioxidants on the planet. It’s the number one herb/spice for balancing blood sugar. i’ll consume a water drink having an organic lemon with all the pulp culled, a flat half teaspoon of powder cayenne pepper, and a tablespoon of Bragg Raw & Unfiltered Vinegar. to help boost my glucose a bit and .

i love my oats, dark chocolate, almond and coconut milk, peanut butter, and honey cereal but i can return to it after the sprout experiments.

4. lentil sprout with the vegan turmeric (brain) sauce, noon lunch

breakfast, lunch, and dinner happened at 9am with a simple bowl of sprout harvest. the technique was simple 1) soak a 1/4 cup of lentils for 12 hours, 2) drain and rinse into a humid and dark container, 3) rinse twice a day morning and evening, 4) harvest on third or fourth day depending on ambient temperature (summer verses winter).

i’ve sensed a need to return to a the same sprout experiment all the seventeen years since. the sprouts will be my only source of food with an optimized vegan turmeric (brain) sauce and an enlightening nootropic combination.

the vegan turmeric (brain) sauce describe will be added atop the lentil sprouts. still trying to decide to apply the vinegar to the master cleanse drink or the sprouts where it certainly boosts taste. one option will be to be spice up taste with Emerils Original Essence.

5) a 23.5 hour controlled fast, an open day for productivity

the fast i’ve found helps me to sleep better, obviates any morning belly pain, and increases the nootropic efficiency. leaving the time of day to consume the sprouts at noon is also important as i find the nootropics are best sublingual on an empty stomach up until my third cup of Yerba Matte tea plus any rest of day hunger pangs are reduced.

upon hearing a nearly 24 fast most folks i mention it to recoil citing an inability to do so. diabetes aside, i’ve hardly even noticed my fast. simply, i think, because the meal is mid-day to give little way for hunger pangs and with a higher energy my mind is more focused on tasks.

time, my precious! preparing to eat and eating easily consumes a two hour chuck of time after work. given that any worker-bee is lucky to have three hours of free time. that leaves one hour for productivity. more than twice the extra time for kids, family, friends, projects, tasks, etc..

i will be weighing myself daily upon waking preferably upon hitting the loo. the device maters also as i find the electronic weight machines are course and suffer from hysteresis (affected by a previous weight).

sleep is to me the foundation for a nootropic stack. a lack of well sleep and any quality or quantity of nootropics will only save my productivity from being the proverbial village idiot.

a few years ago for a two month span, i experimented with measuring my ZQ (sleep quotient) with a Zeos headband where by morning time the sleep patterns appeared on my Android device and algebraically calculated a ZQ. surely, it was an empirically contrived calculation but at least a measure of likely success in my days productivity.

most critically, i’d like to gauge my snoring – it’s my Achilles Heel. a number of apps exist out there but i’d like to create one catered to my needs. then i need to research the physiology of nasal drip, excess tissue, or head position causing my snoring.

it’s been over three months since the last post and i’ve made lots of new ad hoc experiment diet mistakes in the interim. i like what has emerged from the chaos. this time around i won’t be doing a 30-day or any fixed time day experiment. i’m fairly happy with the base diet and as a matter of principle will introduce new items along the way in hopes of discovering improvements. below is a new schedule i’ll be following. by necessity there are two kinds of diet days where both have a common base.

MWF immediately upon waking,

Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday immediately upon waking,

  • seep three Green Tea bags

All Days

  • exercise
  • eat three heaping tablespoons of the Vegan Turmeric Sauce
  • prepare and eat a cereal having,
    • a 1/2 cup of old fashion oats
    • 1/4 cup of boiled and cooled Quinoa
    • a 1/4 cup of half Chia and Flax seeds Burr grounded
    • a dash of raw and unfiltered honey
    • two small 85% cocoa chocolate bars
    • one heaping tablespoon of natural peanut butter
    • one banana
    • soy milk
  • (at this point i’m full until 3 to 5 pm in the day)
  • the rest of day eat any raw vegetables and fruits

the only novel item in this schedule is eating the Vegan Turmeric Sauce as a dish before exercise. also Yerba Matte has substituted coffee. although folks on forums have cited coffee and Modafinil having a synergy, i’m getting a neat feeling combining Yerba Matte and Modafinil. i’ll later post whether the two are a productive combination.

today marks a third and last nootropic fast day of the week (of MWF). it’s a winner and coupled with the evolved 30-day Sprout and Turmeric diet the other four days the brain boost potential is a marvel. this Saturday, Sam’s is holding a free medical exam for cholesterol, blood pressure, and glucose level. i plan to be there. then on Monday begin a new 30-day Nootropic Fast that incorporates my evolved 30-day Sprout and Turmeric diet experiment. have no clue where to check my health stats on the “el-cheapo medical plan” after the next 30-day Nootropic Fast diet but guess i’ll keep a lookout.

a forty minute sublingual 100mcg Modafinil

this morning i spent forty minutes with 100mcg Modafinil dissolving sublingual and face-down on my bed in the wee hours. that was way too long but the noticeable absorption was minimal. i’m inclined to stay with 20 minutes sublingual. folks on forum say it tastes awful. i actually like the taste. the effect is even stronger having doubled the last 20-minute face-down sublingual take of 100mcg Modafinil.

despite Modafinil serum studies indicating eight hour half-life’s, i know sense the drive to create given to me by Modafinil is far more than the eight hours. all of Tuesday and Thursday, after a nootropic fast days of Monday an Wednesday, the unnatural cursing and irritability continued with concomitant productivity so i know it’s still doing it’s magic.

one negative and poof, there goes the suspension of belief! being on the farm is precious gift and I’m using time to create an app. from the safety standpoint, i’ve concluded it’s all in my head as i have no bodily sensations. some folks report skin rash for example.

today my BMI has an official still “overweight” 25 BMI arrival at 155 lbs at 5’6″ from a nearly “obese” 29 BMI departure five months ago. chucks, still have five pounds to go to reach a healthy “normal” 24.2 BMI. three days of nootropic fasting days per week (MWF) virtually guarantees i lose a half pound a day. this is great cause i’m really not trying hard to lose weight, it just falls off and the brain boost is amazing.

this morning wanting to get the most of a 100mcg Modafinil half-pill, immediately upon awakening, i tucked the half-pill under my tongue and rested more than twenty minutes face slanted downward with mouth closed careful not to drool. with eyes closed, i could feel the lift with the same sensation of a plane on takeoff. it was a marvel. taken this way the 100mcg Modafinil feels stronger than simply popping a full 200mcg Modafinil pill and letting the GI track handle absorption. so the math works out to 78 200mcg Modafinil pills (= 52 weeks x 3 Modafinil pills per week x 0.5 pill taken) per year on my three day per week nootropic fasting schedule.

three days of hunger pangs on the nootropic fast proved too disruptive last week and i missed my neat super healthy and tasty cereal of apple, banana, berries, oatmeal, soy with 32mg DHA, a spoon of raw unfiltered honey, and the quinoa, chia, and flax seeds. so i’ve returned the cereal and it fit perfectly to fend off hunger pangs the first part of day.

is eating raw unfiltered honey vegan?

regardless of any academic debate discourse, my stance is simple. honey bees are disappearing, beekeepers help preserve the population, and the L-carnosine found in traces of bee pollen found in raw unfiltered honey helps prevent glycation (glueing of protein and glucose molecules) that advances disease and aging. in my world view, consuming raw unfiltered honey is a win-win scenario.

after numerous good-to-know mistakes on the use of Modafinil, the past two weeks. these are a few points i’ve figured (for me only). some day after this week, i may be restarting a new 30-day Nootropic Fast that rides upon the evolved diet from experimenting with my previous 30-day Sprout and Turmeric. i’m still a Modafinil noobie and find valuable information concentrated here, Quora on Modafinil.

1 – an optimum Modafinil dosage and yearly pill count and cost

200mcg on any schedule it too much for me and 100mcg disrupts my sleep on a tiny bit. i’m staying with 100mcg that is a considerable savings per year as each pill is $1.56 and halved is $0.78. for 52 weeks in a year, that’s 78 pills (= 52 weeks x 3 half-pills / week x 0.5 pill dosage) at a cost of $122 (= $1.56 per pill x 78 pills) yearly. for a productivity geek that’s $0.33 per day (= $122 year / 365 days) to stay super productive.

2 – taking alternate days

on the third consecutive day of taking 100mcg Modafinil while on a nootropic fast all the three days, my brain was overly wired. i’m taking breaks between days! this was the recommendation of a few folks on forums i found before i started experimenting on Modafinil.

3 – taking Modafinil immediately upon waking

i can’t even imagine doing otherwise unless of course i had a big project to finish or a final that same day knowing my brain may be a train wreck from lack of quality sleep the following day.

4 – allowing for two hours to lapse before breakfast

the exception i make is green tea of two bags but the tea steeps for an hour and it takes me another hour to drink my first green tea cup so the two-hour lapse before consuming a breakfast is not disruptive. the lapse is important to allow Modafinil to be absorbed well.

5 – taking Modafinil sublingual

taking any herb or pill sublingual is a fairly basic practice. i have no clue if Modafinil allowed absorbed below the tongue increases absorption but hey it can’t hurt. i do it with my melatonin nightcap pill. see,

6 – a vascular dilator to increase Modafinil absorption?

i want to experiment with a vascular dilator herb or food. three Korean ginseng root glass bottle blended and stored in the refrigerator might be perfect. short of finding that ginseng, i may experiment with cacao (chocolate powder).

7 – how to tell Modafinil still has an effect on me

irritability. i’m normally easy going but on Modafinil one side of the blade is dramatically increased productivity as regards to my ability to code Android apps at least, the other side of that blade is increased irritability when things don’t snap into place immediately or a process is inefficiently designed or architected. while coding i’m cursing up a storm but hey a day’s work completed in two hours, i’ll settle for the cursing anytime. so the irritability is how i can tell the focus of Modafinil remains with me despite any charts indicating a serum half-life.

yesterday i used the phrase “a minimized controlled brain fast”. i’m going to use instead “nootropic fast”. i preface that with “evolved” in my context only since every step to this point has been taken upon a heap of mis-takes. the assumption is the day’s fast is controlled when stating nootropic. besides, i’d rather say “evolved” to leave open the door for further experimenting allow for mistakes that happen in due course. embracing failure is integral to success on this TED Talk, “The greatest originals are the ones who fail the most, because they’re the ones who try the most,” Grant says. or more simply, the food ingested has a fixed schedule, quantity, and type of food. it’s succinct, descriptive, and hit the day’s diet on the nail, given all the elements modafinil, green tea, sprouts, and the Vegan Turmeric Sauce are nootropics. it can be argued that eating sprouts is not a nootropic. having lived a 30-day diet on sprouts along and the zen-mind state it brings on, i would have to vote yes, sprouts are a nootropic. living on the farm alone with just my dog makes the experiment feasible. there is no family or friend influence. someone goading me to go out and eat or worse drink for example. though i fancy a red wine, i’m leaving that to consume after any market successes simply as a reward.

today am on a new minimized controlled fast of 100mcg Modafinil at break of dawn and one meal of sprouts, and Vegan Turmeric Sauce at 2pm. the only change from Monday is the reduction of 200mcg to 100mcg. i rationalized it’s simply because the recommended 200mcg is for folks on a SAD diet. no greasy burger and fries here. the 200mcg on Monday nights sleep kept me waking between REM sleep cycles. from pharmacological serum studies, the Modafinil half-life is eight hours. given the controlled fast the effect will be heighten. additional foods will only weight down my thoughts same as a heavy lunch has on office workers. think i will add the ripe avocados to the sprout and Vegan Turmeric Sauce. want to do same controlled fast three days straight to find if the Modafinil effect is less diminished. at 200mcg Modafinil, it felt as if 10% effect less cognitive benefit each consecutive day. i’m guessing less saturation will have a less diminishing effect. i’d be happy if the diminished effect feels like 5%. obviously, this is a subjective feel and not an objective measure.

yes, we’ve all heard the studies of efficiency loss in multi-tasking. but aside from hearing guitar (on iPad and a real acoustic guitar) music i’ve created in the mornings, i’d like to begin listening to my Audible library books. one last one was Anita Moorjani’s “Dying to be me”. then “Smarter, Faster, Better” by Charles Duhigg. i really want to start and finish Dr. David Perlmutter’s “Grain Brain” and “Brain Maker”. this may be a fun mental exercise.

technique is important though. i will be using my bluetooth LG HBS730 headset where at any moment the book can be paused. without a readily available pause and restart, listening to a book throughout a day can be detrimental. given all the coding breaks i take it ought to be quite a complement. listening to new streams of thought helps me to be more creative as my thoughts escape being stuck in a trough.

days on farm are expected to stay warm and sunny the next ten days. i feel the need to begin an exercise regimen. not so much to help loose weight as to increase blood flow. a rebounder is sitting beside me. want to find some metric to capture degree of blood flow increase. the only exercise i’ve had has been normal chores and sitting on the KneeAir Chair. it’s funny how even after a year being on my 42 acre farm, there are spots i’m still discovering. carving out a perimeter running trail ought to be interesting. figured a run might take twenty five minutes.

almost any entire week was spent in discovery of chat technology. second to being stuck, discovery can consume lots of time for a programmer. good timing too as i’m coding an Android POC chat app. even a basic implementation of a chat app is intensive. hence the high risk.

at the break of dawn yesterday, i took a 200mcg Modafinil. then at 2pm had a bowl of the days lentil sprouts with the Vegan Turmeric Sauce. that’s it. nothing more was consumed aside from sunflower seeds traveling to a local library. the entire day my mind had a beautiful zen-like focus. though i feel the recommended maximum 200mcg Modafinil is for folks who have a typical SAD diet and since mine is minimalist, i’m going to reduce the Modafinil to 100mcg and likely i may be able to take 100mcg Modafinil on consecutive days. i sense this since the Modafinil at 200mcg predictably interfered a bit with my sleep.

it’s a neat experiment i’ll begin tomorrow. this morning, i drank a cup of French Press coffee and need a break from the 200mcg Modafinil yesterday morning.

oh and i appear to have lost  pound. generally, there are two weights the food in transit and the rest of the body weight whether fat of muscle. likely the pound lost was food in transit. no matter, i’m happy to go down a pound.

am back on Modafinil today thank goodness! it’s critical to take alternate day breaks from Modafinil else it will progressively lower it’s effect. as an experiment and because i was greedy to be super productive i took the standard 200mcg Modafinil immediately upon waking four consecutive days. physiologically, on the four day, the brain boost felt 60% of the original first day. my focus this weekend was lousy likely because i rewarded myself with super delicious vegan foods in a vegan potluck gathering in Colorado Springs. on departing, i found myself telling Kevin last, a vegan fellow i barely met as he was leaving Colorado, “it’s mind blowing the power of sprouts, turmeric, and Modafinil”. think i will do that today Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. no more consecutive days. the days i take Modafinil, i’ll only consume two green teas seeped twice, a lentil sprout harvest, and the Vegan Turmeric Sauce. in evening followed by a Throat-Coat tea which i love to taste. this truly is “eating my own dog food”. in addition to all three being brain boosters, that minimalist food consumption is also like a mini fast. or as i prefer to think of it, a controlled fast. Modafinil helps to lower food craving so likely i’ll be able to defer sprouts and the Vegan Turmeric Sauce till later afternoon. am thinking 2pm to allow sufficient time for food to digest. 5pm could be a burden since my GI will be trying to digest food while starting sleeping. this is a double win since any evening food craving may be stubbed. my acid test is whether i will be able to code better those days. also, almost three hours of time is saved in the day from preparing breakfast cereal and a dinner salad. efficiency in coding. some things of course are a discovery path. discovery is hit and miss. like the chat tool based on Jabber/XMPP i’m building now. tools for that are all over the place. but after two days Saturday and Sunday, only one download example appears to be viable. that was not a coding effort, it was simply discovery. still have yet to make the example work but at the very least it can be a basis. to not waste brain power on discovery, i may shift attention to another POC that can use a solid attention on coding. discovery can be done on non-Modafinil days. that may be optimum path.

a Login and Register Proof-of-Concept (POC) app

the POC_LoginAndRegister was completed last week and was last posted as version 1.3 on Google Play. i’ve always wanted to create this POC and in the past spent days coding parts of it but never to completion in a comprehensive nutshell. it seems the diet is doing it’s magic. the POC can be found by searching for “brainyideas” on Google Play. it took nearly four days of tending to. prior to having started the 30-day Sprout and Turmeric diet even as i was eating relatively healthy vegetarian foods (i reverted to remaining vegan a half year ago) the quality of that work would easily have been two or three months vacillating on designs and code structures. what’s really neat about this POC is that it can be used by any other Android app needing a registration and login. forming the Login and Register was fairly straight forward. coded in native Android as a client and PHP script with MySQL as the server. the user flow requires the user to validate email in order to be able to login. the Forgot Login was a bit more involved as that required an email to change any of the registered attributes for first name, username, email, and password (with two fields to avoid being locked out). i’ve never seen the full options available on other sites but at the very least it gives an opportunity to change the public username. this is handy when the user has opts to change an initial choice. people change email all the time also. first name well that’s simply private for communication between a company running the software and the user. so the name may have started as Missy but changed to Misty for example. the password is also protected and saved as a user field in the database with SHA256 in 64 hex characters. even a developer having access to the database entries cannot tell what the password is.
